The Drive Home

So, as I was driving home today, I was listening to a lot of music.  Do you have any idea how many songs can be crammed into a 4.5 hour drive?  And as I went from John Mayer’s live version of “Free-Falling” to John Mellencamp’s “Jack & Diane,” I got to thinking about what makes a song a classic.  Are any of the other songs cram-packed into my day going to be something my (so-far non-existent) kids are going to listen to?  Or will “Stay Beautiful” by The Last Goodnight go the way of the Backstreet Boys?

There are a few other interesting tidbits I picked up from my drive home:

– Highway 63 is called the Avenue of the Saints.  Apparently, it runs from St. Louis to St. Paul.  This is definately new since my last drive home.

– Seeing the same thing over and over again is not scenic.  In other words, Interstate 72 is not scenic because its the same fields over and over and over and over and over again.  Although the Illinois River is quite high right now.

– Congrats to the Mizzou Basketball Team!  They won their first NCAA tournament game in many years as I was driving.
