I’ll be the first to admit: I’m already done Christmas shopping. I took advantage of some discounts to get them all relatively cheap, and now its something I don’t have to worry about as I’m doing the mad dash towards finals. Man, I love finding some good discount shopping.
Judging by Wal-Mart’s 4th quarter expectations, I’d say I’m not the only one looking to cut back on my holiday spending.
What are your plans for holiday shopping?
Wal-Mart has pretty much confirmed what most of us already know. People are staying in, not traveling, not going out for dinner, growing gardens, extending the life of their cars, etx. But it’s interesting in how they’re doing it.
According to a story published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, people are still buying flat-screen and LCD display TVs at Wal-Mart, despite their price. Also, luggage sales are down at Macy’s. This means that people aren’t traveling, they’re staying at home, and trying to make it enjoyable. Hmm…
Also, people are going vegetarian and not buying meat. Or if they are, its cheap meat.
It sounds like college to me, folks.
