This doesn’t really come as a surprise to me, but U.S. adults gave mixed answers in response to a survey that asked them to grade their personal finance know-how. According to a MarketWatch article, more than 92 million adults gave themselves a grade of C, D, or F on personal finance knowledge. 40 percent of respondents gave themselves a B, while 18 percent gave themselves an A.
Other statistics included:
– 33 percent of people are not contributing to retirement funds, up from 28 percent a year ago.
– 42% keep close track of their spending but 7% do not monitor their overall spending
– 32% report that they have no savings
– 23% are now saving more than they did a year ago because of the current economic climate
